Murchison River Lodge has been carefully and sensitively built on the edge of the mighty River Nile overlooking pods of hippos and Uganda’s stunning Murchison Falls National Park.  We offer comfortable and relaxing mid-range accommodation in safari tents and beautiful thatched cottages.  For those of you travelling with your own tent we have a lovely shady campsite where you can set up camp and should you wish, be completely self sufficient.

Since 2009 the lodge and camp have been a work in progress.  From the beginning we had a clear idea of what we wanted to offer visitors travelling to Murchison on safari – put simply, a relaxing place where our friends and family would want to stay.  However Murchison River Lodge wasn’t that simple to build.  The location was a completely wild piece of land that had to be harnessed.  Men were employed from the local area and the land was slowly dug up in relation to what needed doing first.  Pipes, drains and foundations were laid.  Boreholes gave us the run around, roads got washed away and the varied wildlife was often far too curious and kept us on our toes, vervet monkeys in particular!

With the help of many we opened in Christmas 2011 and as of February 2012 the last of the building work (for now) has finished.  Due to our location and being respectful of the environment we’re excited about solar – solar panels have been fitted to roofs, the solar water pump is pumping and the solar fridge and freezer are keeping everything cold and cool.  It goes without saying that we are thrilled to be able to offer you a wonderful place to stay whilst on safari in Murchison Falls National Park and should you be travelling with friends, or independently, with a tour group or with children we have a range of accommodation in a wild and beautiful location to suit everyone.
