Ku Tunza Travel is a small, family run tour company based in Jinja, Uganda specialising in adventure group safaris. It is owned and run by Chris and Georgie Higginson who set it up over 5 years ago. Their commitment to providing you with an overland safari to remember stems from their own travel experiences within Uganda and East Africa.

Chris Higginson:-At the age of 21 Chris drove from the UK to India in a VW Camper Van and was instantly drawn to the lifestyle of overland travel. Several years later he has added Europe, East & Southern Africa, Asia and the Middle East to the list of places where he has guided and led extensive tours for overland companies. He first came to Uganda in 1995 and returned over 6 years ago, having recognised the potential Uganda offers for travellers. Chris settled in Jinja, married Georgie on the Hairy Lemon Island, and established Ku Tunza Travel soon after. He continues to develop and lead the group safaris and is known around the camp fire to be a dab hand at cards and is the man you want behind the wheel when the roads turn to treacle.

Georgie Higginson:-Georgie started travelling over 12 years ago and having spent time in India, Nepal, Thailand and Africa it's finally Uganda where she has chosen to settle with her husband, Chris. Her experience in the UK travel industry is extensive and after arriving in Uganda she managed Soft Power Education, a British registered charity from 2003-06, co-ordinating volunteers and local school projects. However with the lure of travel within East Africa never far away she joined Ku Tunza to run the administration side of things. She has a weakness for good strong tea and is really terrible at cards and map reading, but very capable of catching Tiger Fish.

Kirunda Muzamiru:-Kirunda has been working for Ku Tunza for the past 4 years. He has worked his way up from cleaning tents and vehicles to become our on-road cook, catering for clients on our scheduled adventure safaris. He is in charge of all the pre-trip budgeting, shopping and cooking. Kirunda's dedication and enthusiasm are contagious, and having never travelled further than his home village, working for Ku Tunza has given him the opportunity to see the incredible sights of Uganda which he delights in sharing with his young family.

Peter Mugeri:-Peter has already travelled on several safaris with Ku Tunza, visiting Sipi Falls, Murchison Falls and the city of Kampala - and he had hundreds of photos to prove it. Having left school at 18 Peter approached us for work in 2009. Having shown an eagerness to learn and a humour that left us encouraged (he famously pulled 2 enormous sand mats through mud) he is learning the safari ropes fast and has a smile to show for it. |
